Grow The Vision

Descendants of Abraham is proud to announce our newest development project for 2025. This initiative reflects our commitment to growth and community enhancement. We are excited to share more details soon and look forward to engaging with our community throughout this journey,  as we work together to create a brighter future

Descendants Of Abraham (DOA) Corp is a dedicated organization committed to making a profound impact in the community by addressing the pressing issue of homelessness. Our focus is on providing a comprehensive homeless and transitional shelter program that caters to a diverse audience, including men, women, and families. We recognize the unique challenges faced by each demographic and are dedicated to offering tailored services that not only meet immediate housing needs but also pave the way for long-term stability and independence.

Our program goes beyond just providing shelter; it integrates essential services such as healthcare, education, employment training, and counseling. This holistic approach ensures that each individual and family has the support and resources necessary to transition smoothly into a self-sufficient life. With a deep understanding of the cultural and socio-economic diversity within the communities we serve, our programs are designed to be inclusive and respectful of all backgrounds.

In light of these efforts, securing funding through grants is vital. These funds will enable us to expand our reach, enhance the quality of services provided, and ultimately, transform lives by empowering individuals and families to overcome the barriers of homelessness.

Vision Statement

"Our vision is to create a thriving, resilient, and compassionate Lyell Avenue Community, where hunger is eradicated, homelessness is transformed into hope, and every family finds the support and empowerment they need to flourish.

We envision a community where:

Hunger is a Thing of the Past: Every individual has reliable access to nutritious food, ensuring no one goes to bed hungry. Our community kitchens, food distribution programs, and sustainable partnerships work tirelessly to eliminate food insecurity and promote health and well-being for all residents.

Empowerment Replaces Homelessness: Individuals experiencing homelessness are met with dignity, compassion, and an abundance of resources that empower them to rebuild their lives. Our programs focus on providing shelter, education, job training, and mental health support, guiding each person towards a path of independence and a permanent home.

Families Thrive in a Supportive Environment: Families in need receive comprehensive support that strengthens their foundations and promotes stability. Through access to healthcare, childcare, educational opportunities, and financial literacy programs, families are empowered to create secure and prosperous futures for themselves and their children.

A Network of Community Solidarity: Our vision includes a cohesive network of community partners, local organizations, and dedicated volunteers working in unison to address the root causes of poverty, create inclusive opportunities, and foster a sense of belonging and unity among all community members.

A Legacy of Hope and Transformation: By inspiring and cultivating a culture of kindness, inclusivity, and empowerment, we aim to leave a lasting legacy that transforms Lyell Avenue into a beacon of hope, illustrating the power of community-driven solutions and compassion-led change.

Our commitment is to drive meaningful impact, one step at a time, by harnessing the collective strength and spirit of the Lyell Avenue Community, ensuring a future where every person can achieve their full potential."

Overview of the Program:

Overview: Community-Based Programming for Transformational Impact

Our organization is deeply committed to transforming the lives of the homeless, families in need, and individuals battling addiction through innovative, community-based programming. By leveraging local resources, partnerships, and community involvement, we create a network of support that is both comprehensive and compassionate, addressing immediate needs while fostering long-term resilience and empowerment.

Feeding the Hungry:

Community Kitchens and Food Pantries: We operate community kitchens and food pantries that provide nutritious, balanced meals and groceries to individuals and families facing food insecurity. These services ensure that everyone has access to food, promoting health and alleviating the stress of hunger.

Mobile Meals Programs: To reach those unable to visit our sites, we have mobile meal delivery services that bring food directly to the homeless, seniors, and families in low-access areas, extending our reach beyond traditional boundaries.

Teaching Vital Skills:

Educational Workshops: To empower individuals toward independence, we offer educational workshops focusing on literacy, job readiness, financial management, and digital skills. These programs equip participants with the tools they need for personal and professional growth.

Life Skills Training: Classes on cooking, budgeting, parenting, and home maintenance help individuals and families build essential skills that foster stability and self-reliance.

Counseling and Support Services:

Addiction Recovery Programs: Specialized counseling and support groups are available for those dealing with addiction, providing a non-judgmental space for healing and recovery. These programs include both group and individual therapy, relapse prevention, and peer mentorship.

Mental Health Services: Recognizing the link between mental health and homelessness, our counselors offer support for a range of mental health issues, promoting holistic well-being and emotional resilience.

Inspiring Hope and Community Engagement:

Mentorship and Peer Support: We connect clients with mentors who have overcome similar challenges, offering guidance, support, and hope. This peer-based approach not only inspires but also demonstrates real-life examples of successful transformation.

Community Events and Initiatives: Regular community events, such as job fairs, art workshops, and neighborhood clean-ups, foster a sense of belonging and empowerment, encouraging individuals to take active roles in their community's revitalization.

Through these targeted, community-driven programs, we aim to nurture a supportive environment where every individual can thrive. By addressing the diverse needs of the homeless, families in need, and individuals facing addiction, we help pave the way for sustainable, positive change in our community.

Urgent Need for Funding: Summarize why the grant is critical at this stage.

Facilitate Recovery: Offering treatment programs, counseling, and support groups to help individuals overcome addiction and achieve lasting recovery.

Enhance Health and Well-Being: Addressing addiction reduces related physical and mental health issues, promoting overall well-being and quality of life.

Reduce Social and Economic Impact: Helping individuals recover from addiction can reduce the social and economic costs related to healthcare, crime, and lost productivity.

Reintegrate into Society: Providing the tools and support necessary for individuals to reintegrate into society as healthy, productive members, contributing positively to their communities.

By supporting individuals with addiction, the organization seeks to create a healthier, more supportive environment where individuals can reclaim their lives and futures.
